10 of the Loveliest Limited-Edition Fragrance Bottles

Estee Lauder Pure White Linen
This little Estee Lauder Pure White Linen Snail ($275) is costly and so very pretty, with his jewel-encrusted shell and lacquer finish. It’s a big gift, but I can imagine it being a lovely present for a newlywed or someone who just celebrated a big birthday.

Thierry Mugler Angel
Thierry Mugler Angel Show Star ($110) is the perfume equivalent of sexyface: it’s hot, it knows it, and it doesn’t care that it’s a little over the top. It’s definitely not for the prim and ladylike among us, but if you don’t mind bustiers, pleather, and rhinestones, it’s really fun.

Guerlain Mitsouko
Look, but maybe don’t touch: to celebrate Mitsouko’s 90th anniversary, Guerlain commission famed crystal company Baccarat to create 14 bottles made of crystal, jade, and pearls to contain pure Mitsouko Extract ($7,000). Only five of the bottles will be sold Stateside, so if you or a friend are insanely wealthy, consider picking one up before they run out.

Marc Jacobs Daisy
Marc Jacobs Daisy Daisy Pop Art Edition ($88) is a lacquered, sexier take on Daisy that makes the fragrance look a little more grown-up, and a lot more like Minnie Mouse.

Ralph Lauren Love
Ralph Lauren Love Crystal Parfum ($600) is quite the chunk of rock. The bottle and stopper are both crystal, and I love the graceful, rounded heart shape. I’m not certain who buys pieces like this in the first place, but it’s certainly the kind of bottle that becomes a museum piece or collector’s item 50 years down the road.

Kat Von D Saint
If you like the look of embossed metal, the Kat Von D Saint Purser Spray ($42) should be right up your alley. The foliated flourishes and memento mori skulls on the sides are very rock-chick, and the flip top means that you can toss it in your bag without worrying about spills.

Jade Jagger (as in daughter of Mick and Bianca) has just redesigned the classic Shalimar eau de parfum ($72), and the new bottle looks a lot more like the fancy real parfum than the usual EDP’s. It’s a very modern, elegant update.

Thierry Mugler Alien
Alien ($110) has always had a beautiful bottle, but the latest limited-edition incarnation of it is particularly gorgeous. I love the gold flecks in the purple crystal and the filigree-work girdle on the bottle. The unit is also refillable, so you can put more Alien, or whatever fragrance you want, in it.

Bond No. 9 New York Scent of Peace Swarovski Solid Perfume
Bond No. 9 New York Scent of Peace Swarovski Solid Perfume ($300) is definitely for people who love the sparkly. The compact has 750 purple Swarovski stones on it, and is in such high demand that no single buyer may purchase more than six.

Estee Lauder Beautiful
The Estee Lauder Beautiful Wise Ole Owl Compact ($325) is just drop-dead gorgeous, with jeweled eye and feather details. The Beautiful perfume inside is solid, so you can always use the space for another scent afterward.

  1. Oh, but the Estee Lauder and Thierry Mugler bottles look really nice! I can’t believe I’m sayin’ this but the snail looks really cute. 🙂
Angel as fragrance is one of my old time favourites!
